University of Arkansas Maple Hill Residence Hall – Phase II
University of Arkansas Fayetteville
Phase II of this dormitory project is a 110,000 SF building that houses 350 students. It is built with a combination post-tensioned concrete and load-bearing metal stud structural system that had a guaranteed price before groundbreaking. The bottom floor is slab on grade with a maze of continuous footings underneath the load-bearing walls. The second floor plate is a post-tensioned concrete transfer slab opening up space on the first floor for large multipurpose classrooms and retail areas. The prefab exterior walls were insulated in the shop, and the exterior veneer includes brick and cementitious siding.
To maintain the “house” look, the building has a high-pitched roof covered with asphalt shingles and large air handler units within the attic space. Fan cooling units are located in each four-person suite.
